For those of you who are still unsure about the new Referees Roster System, here is a quick explanation and overview of how it will work and why we have introduced it.

Redskins is required by the TCHTA Conditions of Entry to nominate two (2) referees per team nomination into the Sunday Winter competition. In the past, the Mens A-grade players and many coaches have taken up this task for the teams however in light of last years results the burden on Mens A to carry the club refereeing committments is being lifted and shared around the club accordingly.

We are also finding it difficult to recruit coaches and when we do the coaches are frequently spending mass amounts of time doing administrative tasks like arranging referees or doing the refereeing themselves. This in turn is overloading our coaches.

The new system has been designed to share the load around the team by allocating two (2) referees per team per week to fulfil our requirements. Ideally, each team member will be down on the roster only a couple of times throughout the entire season.

By completing this roster correctly, your team will be saving your coach a considerable amount of time, allowing them to plan better and more effective training sessions.

So please help your team, your coach and other members of your club by putting up your hand this week and offer to referee a couple of games this year.
